I am all about the vintage sewing blogs and now I am taking the plunge and trying something much more complicated. A swing dress is perfect as a late winter/spring item and pretty versatile even for work. I downloaded the pattern today from sense and sensibility and printed, pasted together and cut out the pattern pieces. My back is killing me but I am happy to have figured out the e-pattern. Next is the muslin! I think its a great idea to mock up the design first so one can get a perfect fit and it also takes a bit of the pressure off cutting the good fabric after practicing on the test muslin. I have been scouting fabrics and so far my favorite is a rayon medium cream polka dot on navy ground from fabric house in the garment district in midtown, right by where I work. Also I discovered I do in fact have an invisible zipper foot for my machine and can't wait to try it out, I'm sure it will make putting in the zipper much easier than on the half circle skirt with a regular zipper foot.
